Syllabi Language

Syllabi Language for Accommodations

The Office of Access and Learning Accommodation suggests using the following language in your syllabi to ensure that students know the process for requesting reasonable accommodations. This may include a statement like this:

Baylor University has a strong institutional commitment to value the dignity and worth of every member of our diverse campus community. As part of that commitment, we strive to create learning environments that are accessible, equitable, and welcoming.

If you anticipate or experience barriers to your participation in this course related to a disability, please contact the Office of Access and Learning Accommodation (OALA) to begin the accommodation process. OALA works with students through an individualized and interactive process to understand disability-related barriers and determine reasonable accommodations that provide equal access to Baylor’s programs and activities.

If you are approved for accommodations and would like to use them in this course, please request that OALA send me your accommodation notification letter. Once that has been provided, you are welcome to contact me regarding any course specific logistics or planning needed to implement your accommodations.

More information about OALA and the accommodation process is available at oala.web.baylor.edu or by emailing OALA@baylor.edu.
