Meal Plan Accommodations
Meal Plan Accommodations
At Baylor University, we are deeply committed to the full participation of students with disabilities in all aspects of college life, including dining experiences. All first-year students and residents of Brooks and Teal residential colleges are required to purchase a Baylor University Meal Plan. In certain situations, students may need to request special meal plan accommodations.
Occasionally, students have special dietary needs or allergies and may require an accommodation to the Meal Plan in the form of a special diet. Often, these needs can be met by Baylor Dining Services. Click here for more information about their services regarding special diets and allergies. Additionally, students can meet with a dietician to discuss concerns regarding managing other dietary needs.
If after exploring these options, a student still requires a meal plan accommodation to adjust or modify their plan, they are encouraged to submit an application for accommodations and specify the need for a meal plan accommodation. If a student is already registered with OALA and needs a meal plan accommodation, they must reach out to their accommodation specialist via email and submit the following: a) documentation outlining your need for a meal plan accommodations. Please refer to our documentation guidelines for what information should be included and b) written personal statement that describes the following: your condition and its impact on your meal plan and dietary needs, specifically outline your meal plan accommodation requests, and an explanation of how these accommodations will ameliorate symptoms or help overcome limitations related to your condition. If a student does not know who their accommodation specialist is, they can reach out to OALA@baylor.edu for further information.
Please note that exemptions from the meal plan are granted after exploring other options and when documented health conditions require special medical and necessary diets that cannot be accommodated by Baylor. Requests for meal accommodations will be reviewed by committee. Decisions regarding requests or the need for further information will be sent to students via email. Additionally, if denied, the student will be provided with reasoning for the denial.
