Meal Plan Accommodation Request
At Baylor University, we are deeply committed to the full participation of students with disabilities in all aspects of college life, including dining experiences. All first-year freshmen and residents of Brooks and Teal residential colleges are required to purchase a Baylor University Meal Plan. In certain situations, students may need to request special meal plan accommodations.
Occasionally, students have special dietary needs and require an accommodation to the Meal Plan in the form of a special diet. Many times, these needs can be met by Baylor Dining Services. Exemptions from the Meal Plan are rare. They are made solely for documented health conditions that require special medically and necessitated diets that cannot be accommodated by Baylor Dining Services. In the rare instance that Dining Services is unable to provide a reasonable dietary accommodation, the student is granted an exemption and is released from the Meal Plan contract.
Baylor dining assists students with allergies and special dietary restrictions. Click here for more information. Students can also meet with a dietician to discuss concerns regarding managing your food allergy. Click here to schedule a meeting with a Baylor dietician
Baylor University has established procedures to ensure that students with documented disabilities have access to reasonable on-campus meal plan accommodations. The application review process for a meal plan accommodation may take up to three days.
To apply for a meal plan accommodation, please complete the Meal Plan Accommodation Request Form. The request will ask for documentation regarding a substantially limiting condition by appropriate medical professionals.
All documentation provided from medical professionals must meet the following requirements:
- Be on letterhead of the particular medical or health institution or on the letterhead of the medical/health/disability professional issuing the documentation
- Include a statement of impact and/or limitations on student's diet
- Include recommendations of appropriate reasonable accommodations
- The date of the most recent office visit
- Signature and credentials of medical professional
Students must follow these procedures and provide all the required information in order for a Meal Plan accommodation to be considered.
Meal Plan accommodations can only be made within the first 2 weeks of the semester. There are no exceptions to this deadline. Any requests made after the deadline will be applied the following semester.
